Basil Naum and all,
We can't take a vote currently in Iraq, so I don't think this argument
will be solved for a long time, if at all.  I'd be interested to know if
Iraqis and what portion of them support Saddam Hussein, but  I think that
people see things differently, and so I'll really never know.  I could go
there, and that would be the closest to knowing that I'd ever get.  I do
know however that Saddam has lots of Shiites to deal with.  I don't think
many Shiites like him from what I've heard.  Shiites make up either 60 or 70
percent of the Iraqi population.  So maybe it's not a majority.  What I'd
like to know is how did the elections take place in Iraq.  I mean how were
they setup, and all of that.  Anyone know?  Well that's my view.

I basically adopt French semiologist Jean Baudrillard's view when it comes
to the U.S. and Saddam: "One of the two adversaries is a rug salseman, the
other an arms salesman: they have neither the same logic nor the same
strategy, even though they are both crooks."

The enemy of my enemy isn't necessarily my friend. The only "leaders" I
reserve judgment on are Castro and maybe to a lesser extent Quadaffi. In
their cases I'm not sure who's lying and who's being truthful, but I want
to like them and haven't been adequately convinced not to. (For instance,
I had a friend in high school who was Cuban. Because he was a Jehovah's
Witness, he was forbidden not to pledge allegiance to the Cuban flag in
school. He told me that he & his family were taken to jail, and eventually
sent (or fled, I'm not sure which) on a raft to the U.S. Obvious case of
police corruption. But is Castro to blame? Is Bill Clinto to blame for
Louima's sodomization at the hands of New York City cops? Tough
questions.) And from history, Jefferson, although his flaws - slave
holder, rich land owner/speculator - are glaring.

I liked what you had to say Mark.  Good points there.  I admire Castro a lot
myself.  I like a lot of what he says and stands for.  I know that's not to
popular on the NG.  That's okay, we're in titled to our own views.
I may not agree with everything he does, but I like a lot of what he has
done.  I also think the point about the police being responsible for what
happened to your friend's family in Cuba is probably true.  Castro can't and
doesn't make all decisions for the country, contrary to some views out
there.  He couldn't, he wouldn't have the time.  He can't have something to
do with every  individual case.  So I think you have a point there.
Know government is perfect, and know government will all of us agree
with all of the time.  We're human, and because of that, we can't make one
another happy all of the time.  The same goes with government.  Things we
may think are things that the government can't do.  Governments have to look
out for themselves to some degree.  That's why I can't blame some people for
hating government all together.

You cannot imagine how sorry i am.

Bombing has not save anyone yet.

But tell me have you heard on NBC, ABCnews even CNN what Serbs are thinking
from the other side of front line ?

Have you seen Serbs refugees telling stories on CNN ?
Where are all Serbs from Croatia now and why are they over there?

You never seen full size propaganda war but I did and I do now.
You are now under that propaganda.

International law formed after WW2 has been broken.
There is no other law but Law of Force.
Who has force has rights. Like in "western" movies.

Flying Syd.

Yes, I have seen several of them in the German television. And not only the
speech of the former ambassador was broadcasted. There were also the
speakers of some serbian communities in Germany and many interviews from
Belgrad civilians. But the ambassador has gone home and the journalists in
Yugoslavia (thoose who don't belong to the Serbian Propaganda) have been
sent home, too.

>You never seen full size propaganda war but I did and I do now.
>You are now under that propaganda.

Yes, you are right. Newspapers and other media always tries to sell
information. That is why they broadcast things in a subjective manner. But
it would also be a profit for them to prove that another news agency tells
lies. We know that and that is why we watch different media. We listen to
many so that we can make our own mind about the situation. But what about
the Serbians?
If you live in Serbia how many different and independent sources of news do
you have? Please explain why the Serbian government shut down the B'92?
I think that you are the one who is blinded by propaganda! And if a Serbian
without internet connection would talk in the way you did I wouldn't be
angry. How should he know?
But you seem to be rather ignorant. You have the resources to make your mind
and to understand the situation. But you are going the easier way to follow
Serbian propaganda. Please stop to feel as the victim. You are the
offenders!
